Set of 5 Spode Blue Room Spice Jars w Lids, Bay, Mint, Parsley, Sage, Thyme, RetiredThe Spode Blue Room Collection Spice Jars were produced in the 1980's and early 1990's. Named for the display room at the Spode factory where historical blue and white transferware was exhibited, the Blue Room Collection features Spode archival patterns.This set of 5 Blue Room Spice jars each has spice label and a different pattern:Bay - "Tower" pattern first introduced circa 1814Mint - "Castle" first introduced circa 1806Parsley - "Aesop's Fables" introduced circa 1830Sage - "Portland Vase" first introduced circa 1832Thyme - "Blue Rose" first introduced circa 1826Each jar has a pattern specific lid. All have rubber lid gaskets, but none fit tightly.The jars measure about 4.25" in height including the lids. At the base, the jars are about 2" in diameter. They have Spode backstamps which identify their archival pattern.These jars are in fine pre-owned condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, or repairs.Please see all of the photos to judge the quality and condition of this set.Unless specifically listed as New, all of my items are pre-owned, vintage, or antique. In the year 1829, white clay was found in Schlierbach Forest, near Frankfurt am Main, belonging to the Ysenburg Waechtersbach preserve. In the spring of 1832, overseer Johann Scharff, born 1781 in Echternach Luxemburg examined the clay and found it excellent for the manufacture of Earthenware.
